Gol Gappay – Pani Puri (water balls)

A small and crispy hollow ball of fried dough, filled with potato and dunked in spicy water and meethi (sweet) chutney. Gol Gappay is a popular Pakistani street food snack you just can’t get enough of. The gol gappa i.e. the water ball ought to be dipped in spicy water and chutney, along with fillings readily inside the gol gappa, which you then put in your mouth – and that’s how you eat it! Yummy! Gol Gappay can be eaten anytime, except in the early morning.

  1. All purpose: 1 cup
  2. Semolina: 1 cup
  3. Salt: ½ teaspoon

Steps to follow:

  • Take all-purpose flour in a bowl.
  • Add semolina and salt in it.
  • Knead the dough well.
  • Cover the dough for at least 30 minutes.
  • Take a ball of thought and flatten it with the help of a Rolling pin.
  • Now cut the small circles with the help of a round shape or cutter.
  • Now heat some oil in a pan and fry the balls.
  • Keep pressing the balls to give them a good rise.

Serving:

Serve them with sour water ( khatta pani). 

Protips:

Keep the circles as thin as possible to make the balls raise.
