The Kashmiri chai is believed to have originated from the Indian Sub-continent – particularly in the Kashmir valley. The rosy Kashmiri chai (Kashmiri tea) traditionally has a savoury taste. It strawberry milkshake-like colour comes from the addition of a special ingredient. Kashmiri chai is especially popular among the people of Pakistan, and it’s also well-liked in India. This Himalayan drink goes by many names in South Asia such as ‘salt tea’, ‘gulabi chai’, and the list goes on.
- Ingredients
- Water: 4 cups
- Milk: 2 cups
- Green tea: 2 spoons
- Star anise: 1
- Cinnamon sticks: 2
- Cardamom: 2
Steps to follow:
- Add all the ingredients in the water and boil them for 20-30 minutes
- Then strain them and keep the water.
- Then boil the milk with cardamom in it
- Then mix it with that water we kept before
- Then give it a boil
- Add some dry fruits to it
- Now your Kashmiri chai is ready!
