The popcorn chicken dish was invented by Gene Gagliardi (known as the food technologist). The recipe was test-marketed in the year 1992 and was launched in the whole of the United States in the same year. From there onwards, KFC has been periodically making the popcorn chicken dish available worldwide. Today, KFC lovers love to have popcorn chicken dishes at their franchise restaurants worldwide. With Tamana, you will learn about how you can make KFC-style popcorn chicken at home.

  1. chicken cubes: ½ kg
  2. Vinegar: 3-4 tablespoons
  3. Garlic paste: 1 tablespoon
  4. salt: 1 tablespoon
  5. Red chilli powder: 1/4 teaspoon
  6. Chilli sauce:2 tablespoons
  7. vinegar : 3 tablespoons
  8. Soy sauce: 2 tablespoons
  9. Milk: 4 tablespoons
  10. Turmeric powder: ½ tablespoon
  11. Chaat masala: 1 teaspoon
  12. All-purpose flour: for coating

Step 1: Marination

  • Take ½ kg of chicken and dip it in the water
  • Add 4-5 spoons of vinegar to it
  • Let it stay for ½ hour.
  • Then after half hour take the chicken in a separate bowl
  • Add garlic paste, salt, red chilli powder, soy sauce, chilli sauce, vinegar & milk
  • Mix it well
  • Then add chaat masala and turmeric powder 
  • Then let it stay to marinate for 2 hours.

Step 2: coat the chicken

  • Take all-purpose flour in a bowl and cold water in the other
  • Take a chicken cube and coat it with the flour 
  • Then take this cube and dip it in the cold water for 5-7 secs and again coat it with the flour
  • Then repeat this for all cubes

Step 3: frying

  • Take oil in a pan or wok
  • Heat it up 
  • Add cubes one by one and fry them on a medium flame
Serving:

Serve it with ketchup, dipping sauce or garlic butter

Protips:

Keep the flame medium to cook it nicely without getting burned
